Today was Valentine Day, which apparently the kids celebrate over here, as well as a local's 21st birthday. He runs the internet cafe that I use & I came in today & he asked if I wanted to come to a pub & restaurant for his birthday tonight. His friend had a car so a group of us crammed in, not as crammed as on the way to fights (record: 22 people in 1 truck so far).
Anyways, the "pub" that we went to turned out to be a club with live music playing Thai rock & a couple American songs (kiss me & black eyes peas), which would alternate with a DJ playing American hiphop. It was pretty interesting. And smokey. The other interesting thing is that people would just buy entire bottles of Whiskey, rather than shots. Then friends would share one bottle - & they mix it with a lot of soda water. Anyways, the women are all from nearby universities (for the most part) and are smokin! It is really easy to talk/dance with them, because I'm a foreigner, so I just go up and say the few things I know in Thai & apparently that is enough. It was fun to hang out with kids my age and see what they go and do when they want to have a good time. Except I still miss Janessa a lot & thought of her the whole time.

yeah I've been lucky - I haven't got sick from the food *knock knock* but I got sick from the shared water at camp, no biggy. I haven't sent this site to Rob & Edie yet though so thanks if you pass it on.

I haven't been keeping up with your travels for a while but decided to check it out today. Sounds like you are having quite the experience over there. You sound pretty fearless about eating all the food. Have you gotten sick at all? Some of the unknown foods sound kind of scary. I know that the Thai girls used to bring some pretty strange things to our parties. One time they said "Oh you have to try this Karen you will love it". I asked them what it was and it was stomach lining. I politely told them I was too full. Anyway it sounds like you are having a great time. The Thai people are a very friendly and loving people. It is pretty funny you met a grumpy French woman - the French often are seen as rude people. I guess it it good Phil is an American/French but he can still get rude when he wants to. Post some more pictures we would love to see them. Did you give this site to Rob & Edie so they could check it out? If not I can send it to Rob for you. Pretty cool -have fun!!
