After my first big delay hit the hot humidity of the caribbean coast! The city looks bloody cool at night, the Colonial walls lit up surrounding the city and the waves breaking at your side as you drive up to Cartagena.
After the usual hunt for a place to crash found a hostel called Holiday. Met some people that night who were on the hunt for a boat so latched onto that idea early as apparently it can take ages..
So went went down to the Nautica club...very OC stylie! Chatted to some captains...total shambles as they seem to be drunk most of the time! Thankfully sorted out a boat but it was for 7 but managed to squeeze on! Met some people with the same itinerary as me which was lucky so will hopefully be joining forces in central america with them.
The old town is truly gorgeous colonial streets balconies decorating the side of every terraced house the hot streets filled with every fruit imaginable. The old walls enclosing and preserving this little colonial paradise.
Some gorgeous little parks where locals play chess and drink cheecha and the iguanas strutt around scaring unsuspecting tourists...
If your lucky enough to stay in the area I did then you will enjoy the delights of the local crack heads shouting any anglo/American `phrase, common ones include ´hey mother&%$$$...´, and offering you drugs and then the local prostitutes grabbing your arse as you pass...
We managed to get a boat with Martine from Valencia on Sunday so after a couple of nights of indulging in the local cuisine and tipple...Ron...We are off ot get necessary pirate attire and climb aboard our vessel for 5 days of sailing fishing from the high seas and enjoying the caribbean life on the islands of San Blas!Shall be awesome!arghh!
