The common areas of the Cairo Marriott were very grand, but the rooms (or at least mine) were pretty unspectacular.  I probably had a worse experience than average because I was frustrated over leaving my camera battery charger in Bangkok and the hotel staff were not very helpful when dealing with something out of the ordinary.  The hotel had a nice pool, but I was overly sensitive to unknown attire expectations, so I stayed covered.  My best experience at the hotel was at the outdoor restaurant.  The freshly made pita was the best I've had!  It was baked outdoors at the restaurant.  They also had "shisha" (flavored tobacco smoked with a hookah) and they served it with sanitary disposable mouth pieces.  So it was exciting without unnecessary adventure. :)
