After leaving Surfers', I was definately ready for some chillin out and TLC. I arrived in Byron and found it the perfect place to spend the days doing nothing. I stayed in a place called the Arts factory which was the most interesting hostel I had ever stayed in! It was started with the whole hippie mindset that characterizes (or used to) Byron Bay. I just stayed in a regular dorm room, but you could choose to stay in a jungle hut, or even a teepee! It also had this beautiful pond area that I went to read by lots during my stay. The first two days/nights I was there, I really didn't do a lot. I did make it down to the beach both days, and I wandered the shops to see what goodies I could find (though I actually didn't buy anything, aren't you guys proud?!) Despite the fact that our hostel had a wicked night life, and no one appeared to go to bed before 4am every night, I managed to get a good nights sleep. I know this doesn't make for a super great journal entry but I felt I needed a few days of nothingness to make up for my super charged tour down the east coast! I did attend a local film festival though, one where groups got 72 hours to write, film and edit a video and then they compete for prizes. It was neat seeing that people do the same things on the other side of the world as they do back home!

The next day I bummed around a bit more, and then made a call to Vicki from Newcastle. Her and Charlotte and Amy were all in Bryon that night so we were going to meet up and check some of the places that everyone goes out to in Byron. Britney (one of the Sydney girls) had told me that I had to check out Cheeky Monkeys and dance on the tables so I could'n't leave Byron without fufilling her request!

I got a hold of her and we said we'd meet at Cheeky Monkeys at 8:30pm to go for dinner. We met up and got some really cheap food and grabbed a couple of jugs of beer to take advantage of the happy hour. We had another awesome chat and the other girls came by shortly after.

Cheeky Monkeys is a crazy place! By 10:30pm, there were guys and girls stripping off their clothes to try to win a free skydive! I remember just shaking my head and being like, "What time is it for go'd's sake!". But we got a few more drinks and then it was table dancing time! For those who have never been, they don't have a dance floor, it is actually just these metal tables that you have to dance on. Check out the photos! It was a great time! I even got approached by a girl (Ashley) who asked me if I was the VP of Lister! I was once again reminded of just how small the world is! In fact, Ashley had just finished working with the same surf camp that I was going to be going on the next morning!

After having enough of Cheeky Monkeys, us four girls and two random guys who were trying to pick up Amy and Charlotte went for a massive walk down to the Beach Hotel. It was already closed, but I got my photo outside and was happy! Me and Vicki really had to go to the bathroom and so we ended up breaking into a random cafe to relieve ourselves! After indulging in a huge poutine (they charged me for ketchup and I was sooo upset!) I headed back to the Arts Factory for a good 3 hours sleep until I had to meet up for the surf camp. It was most definately a rough morning!

Onto the adventures of surf camp!!!
