Well what can i say about Bryon Bay? It is a brilliant place, it's so laid back and i think suits my personality down to the ground! I had some of the best times of my whole journey so far in Byron. Here i met up with Gareth, Macca and Rob from uni, and just had a really good laugh everyday.

Byron Bay is the essence of a beach town, relaxed, good weather and good times at the beach to be had by all!

I did quite a bit of body boarding which was good fun, catching the waves in like a master of the art! However, i do remember on a couple of occasions being reminded of the awesome power of the ocean!! As did Mr Gareth Jacques, with his board pretty much snapping in half as he got well and truly 'munched' by a wave......eat sand Mr Jacques, eat sand!!

But if i was laughing at Jackos ill fated board and the repeated face slaps he was receiving from waves, i don't know why, as i had my fair share of oceanic beatings myself! On one particular wave, i turned my bodyboard around, and starting paddling frantically........then i got that feeling......."oh crap, this is gonna hurt!". Sure enough, i was taught a vital lesson by Mrs Pacific Ocean........"you might be having a good time, but dont forget whose the boss!". My face was pumelled into the sea bed, my bracelet i'd bought from a market in St Kilda was ripped from my wrist never to be seen again and the board went flying! Oh and just to make sure i had no pride left, my board-shorts were left around my ankles along with my dignity! LOL!

We also played beach cricket on a couple of days which was a great laugh! Even got our good German friend Johannes playing.....we will probably be seeing Germany in the Cricket World Cup soon enough! I loved the way the all the people around us on the beach took an interest in the game, they can't get enough of it in OZ!! On one occasion, one of us his the ball in the air to the legside and a little kid ran about 15metres to his right and dived full stretch to try and take the catch......Awesome! People coming out of the sea to dry off would see the ball roll past them and pick it up fizzing it in with a run out attempt!! We had great fun playing, and for me it was made all the better by the fact we were in Oz, playing beach cricket.......can't get more authentic than that!

I stayed in Byron for about two weeks, and met some great people.....Definately a place to visit if you get the chance!
