HOLA!
and wellcome to my journal...
first of all i must tell you all that i don't have much time - so i'm sorry if it will be a short story....
well at 10 am on a rainy morning i finally arrived in Argentina. after a long flight from israel... on the plain by the way we (Neta and i) sat next to a local argentian chica who was very nice. she had the sadest story - while being on taglit in israel she got a messege that her mother is hospitalizd and now is heading back home, i guess she talked with us mainlly to get her mind off the reason she's on her way home....
anyhow, we arrived at the airport - where we had a taxi allready waiting for us. the taxi driver was a very nice man - also speaks hebrew - he took care of us and made sure we had a place to stay... we ariived at an hostel called ST.Nicolas at Mitre 1691 - a great hostel - very clean, the people are very nice and helpful, by the way they also have a recepcionist that speaks hebrew, so it made it easier to get started in a new place... highly recomended!
the first day i slept till 3 pm, because i had a headace from the flight and i left israel a little sick, and then we went out in search of an atm and a supermarket... we went around for a long time looking for some thing we thought we knew how it looked but was wrong. finally we went inside a internet place and asked for directions - the man was very nice and very helpful. at the end of the first time we walked around in this big strange city we felt so good about ourselfs - that we manneged getting along here.... later we met some israelies in the hostel and spent some time with them.
the next day we went to plaza san martin where the american express change is, and also a very long street called florida filled with shops like zara... the problam was that it was raining nonstop, so after exchanging our travelers to pesos (which by the took some time just to find the american express building, aperrently it's on the other side of plaza san martin and we just couldn't see it, because the plaza is so big!!!!), anyway after changign our money we found a place to eat - the food was great!!! we sat there for almost 2 hours waiting for the rain to stop. when it stoped raining rof a moment we kept on our way looking for a travel agency, so we can arrenge the flight to el calafate. but so it happens this is the high season and there was no flight for the next two weeks, after being in some agencies we dicieded to take a flight to comodoro rivadavia and from there a bus to rio gallegos and from there a bus to el calafate. and in the end we booked it in our hostel because it was much cheaper, and also added 2 night in el calafate and a trip to puerto moreno...
anyway that night we went to a jazz concert in a club called notorios, that each night has jazz concerts it was great (don't worry - i shoot a short video on my camera so you can also see and hear the music) - the concert was great - i felt so happy and relaxed after!!! very much recomended....
on friday the 13th we went to Plermo - an area feeld with garden which photos are on this web site. the botanic garden was amaizing - it felt so good just sitting there, it didn't even bother us that it was raining.... after that we went to the zoo - it was so buetiful we could have been there for hours!!! but it became late and we had to take a bus back to the hostel. that night we became lost in buenos aires - we were tols that in order do get back to plaza de congreso we should take bus number 37, now all we had to do is find the bus station, sounds easy - well it's not, we still can't speek good spanish (we are here only 3 days....) so the insractions we got we didn't really understand, we walked for a long time till we found the station, and then when we got on the bus the driver said he doesn't go to where we need and took us off the bus and pionted us to onther bus. we got on that bus, and asked the driver to tell us where we need to get off, well the driver forget about us, and when we noticed it was too late - we were lost. the streets we got to wern't even on our map (the small tourist map) when the driver remembered to take us off we had to go and look for a bus that is going to where we need. in the end we found the bus we were looking for, and got back to the hostel 2 hours after we started looking for a bus.... that night we arivved at 21 to the hostel, i slept till 2 am and then we went out dancing in a place could the opera bey - a nice place we had lots of fun, danced till 5:30 am and then went back to the hostel.
saturday, 14/01/06, we went to ricoleta - an area that on the weekend has a nice market, and also the graveyard where evita is berried. there was a great, happy feeling about this place. and there is a great museom that has classic arts - it was so beutiful and relaxing. we had the best time there just being at that place. later at night we went to a regei bar that doesn't play any regei - i really don't know why. but it's a nice place.
it's sunday, 15/01/2006, it's to most rain we have seen here! we couldn't leave the hostel till 13:30, and when we did it was just to go to a museom called malba. there is a nice presintation about drugs there - it's made of four rooms, each on a diffrent famous person that was addicted to kok: jieme hendrix, merlin monro, yoko ono and someone i didn't recognaize - he was argentinian. anyway each room is diffrent - i won't tell you what happenes in side - it's for you to come there and find out!!!! that night we went to an irish pub - really a nice place, but doesn't have irish music or beer :(....
monday, 16/01/2006, finally a sunny day!!!!!! it was so hot and sunny - finally it feels like summer here. we went again to palermo to see the japanese garden, rose garden and plantariom that we didn't have time to see at friday. the japenese garden wasn't as beutiful as we imagened, the plantariom was closed, but the rose garden was really nice!!! all in all it was a nice sunny day, and we were happy to finally get out of the hostel for the day! and at night we went to see a movie - the memories of a geisha - w great movie, but they don't have a break in the middle of it so it was realy long for to sit there for 2 hours... but still a great movie....
today, tuesday, 17/01/2006, we went to costenera, a park that we were told was nice - well they were wrong - very disapointing..... and now we are back in the hostel. tonight i went out to the barduck, an israeli pub, i must say i don't really like those placed but the people that i was with made it a great time... i had agreat last in buenos aires.
the next time you'll here from me will be down south... so till then!!!
love,
chen
