Well, this is officially our final destination in South America... And what a way to go.  Buenos Aires is truely an amazing city!  The first day we arrived we literally walked around with our backpacks for about an hour trying to find somewhere to stay, before eventually giving up and jumping in a cab.  We had heard of a hostal in the city that was supposed to be pretty cool so we headed there.  It was a REAL hostal.  Not like the semi-hostals we'd been staying in, this place was full of young backpackers out to have a crazy time.  We were shown to our room which was actually a dorm for four, but they assured us that it would just be the two of us...  The two of us, and four bunk beds!!!!  Hmmm.  Everywhere else was way too expensive to we decided to stick around at least for a couple of nights until we could find somewhere a little more comfortable.  To be honest it was a pretty cool hostal (apart from the bunk beds).  There was a huge bar downstairs with cheap beer, and free internet.  Anyway, the first night, we went out on the town as it was Saturday and the city was buzzing.  We hit a couple of bars, the first, called BarDuck was an Israeli hangout, and was pretty cool, and the other, a pool bar with beer taps on the tables!!!  Fantastic!!!  Anyway, suffice to say we stuck around at this one, me for the beer, Yaz for the pool...  At the end of the night we headed back to our hostal and figured we'd have a quick drink in the bar downstairs if it's still open, and then go to bed.  We got there and the place was crazy!!!  Packed with backpackers, dancing whereever there was space to (and even where there wasn't) and everyone was hammered.  Anyway, we stayed for a 'couple' of drinks, until about 4:30am, and the party was still going when we decided enough was enough.  In fact I can honestly say this was the first time on our travels that both of us actually felt old...  although you can't blame us, I swear some of them were still in diapers...!

Anyway, the rest of the week was a bit quieter, mainly coz we moved out of the hostal and into a cheap hotel the following day.  We spent the week checking out the different areas in BA, and enjoying the city life.  On the last day there we decided we should take in a bit of culture and went to a tango night which was amazing.  After this we decided to pop back to BarDuck as the owner had invited us along to celebrate Jewish new year there (he initially mistook us for israeli's - could be my big hair).  It was a pretty cool night, the place was packed and playing israeli club music, which is surprisingly good, and everyone shouting 'Happy New Year' in Hebrew. After a few shots bought for us by the owner, we partied until the early hours...  What a sendoff before our flight to NZ the following day!  : )
