BA!

It seemed that the moment I arrived in South America everyone was raving about Buenos Aires and Argentina. Every traveller that I had met in my time here, that had been to Argentina and especially Buenos Aires, wouldn`t stop, but go on about how cheap it was. Not only the fantastically low prices, but the value. It is such a modern country, like many in Northern Europe, but due to the recent economic crisis which precipitated the devaluation of the peso from being pegged at 1 to 1 with the dollar to now being at 3.5 pesos to the dollar. To put all in perspective, it is like everything is now less than 30% the old price. This is great for the traveller, but no so great for the Argentines, who used to earn on par with the rest of the first world. Their lives have all definitely had a drastic change. Not to mention the 25% unemployment!

The architecture, the plazas, the people, and the women! Argentina`s gem of a city is known for all of these things. And I for one agree! Just walking around the city, I feel as though I am in Europe. The architecture, especially gives this feeling, but also the broad avenues, and grand plazas. It also seems to be a well known fact that the women of Buenos Aires are some of the most beautiful in the world. They are everywhere you look, and even Charles Darwin noted this in one of his books that he wrote about South America!

When I arrived into BA, I headed for the Millhouse, as this is meant to be the best hostel in all the city. Everyone had seemingly told me so...but, alas it was full! I will definitely book ahead next time. But, they sent me to Urbana, which was a bit cheaper and turned out to be quite nice itself. I met a girl from Boulder! and her friend from Cali, they were both studying at the University of Santiago on exchange. We went to Grants, as it was Thanksgiving Day, and suffed ourselves. Grants is a must in BA, it is a tenedor libre(all you can eat) restaurant, known to be one of the best in all of BA. Only 2.5 dollars and we were laughin!

I had a great time just walking around the city and going out at night. It was everything I had been told it would be. And I was coming back for the finale, that ought to be fantastic!
