Always wanted to go to a SPA but just couldn't afford it. That is until we found the Danubius Thermal Hotel Margitsziget on Margaret Island. We travel often and we are always looking for a bargin. This is more than a bargin. Round trip from New York, 21 nights, 2 meals per day (breakfast and lunch or dinner) and 15 SPA treatments per week, and they also pick you up at the airport. Now the price, first it depends on when you go, but it is between $2200 -2900 per person. Now read that again, flight, food, hotel and treatments. Did I mention that the hotel is a 4/5 star. It was fantastic. The hotel is on a island on the Danubue, between Buda and Pest. You are about 10-15 minutes by bus from down down Pest. We have been there twice the last being this year 2007 and it was fantastic. Upon arrival you see a Doctor, and she sets up a schedule of what treatments you will be receiving, like massages, mud treatments, etc. This is a health SPA so besides the treatments you have a indoor and outdoor pool, a hot mineral pool, jacuzzi, workout room, and sauna, all of which is available anytime you want to use it. We did not want any treatments on Wednesday and Saturday's and these were out tour days. The bus is about 10 yards from the hotel and will take you right into town. We bought the bus/train/tram/trolley pass and was able to navigate our way around with little or no problem. There was an ATM machine at the hotel, they also have a tour service if you wanted them to take you around, we went everywhere on our own. The room, with balcony, refrig, safe, was fairly good size and maid service every day. The food, excellent, sometimes they had as many as 7 entrees, always salad, deserts and fresh fruit. Prices for wine at he hotel for dinner was more than reasonable. Overall a great trip and would recommend it for anyone. Buda and Pest are two great cities that have a lot to offer, museum, churches, restaurants, parks, everything you could imagine. Margaret Island is well maintained and has a track that you can walk all around the island with the Danubue at your side. Price is right.
