Is it 5 o'clock already?!?  I fell asleep so fast. I didn't move all night. Man, for sitting all day, it sure takes a lot out of you. Going to listen to the weather forecast, then decide on 98 or 10. I will lose an hour going into eastern time today. I have 450 miles left on my journey. I now have a full appreciation for zippers on boots. :-)

I left Pensacola knowing all of north Florida would soon be under water. I decided the scenic route. Hwy 98. Awesome. I never get tired of FLA beach town. Aquamarine clear water. Costal highway. Perfect. About panama city I got rain. On with the suit. I forget to cover my tour pak bag. It got a little wet. I drove...watching the view. I stopped shortly in Apalachicola. I will be heading on to Perry in a few. If u ever get a chance to go thru the panhandle of FLA, take hwy 98. Commercial beach towns, to residential, to miles of natural coastline. :-)

980 miles

I drove along the coast and came across obvious hurricane damage. Boats were up in the lawns of house, semi truck cargo containers where smashed and twisted, and trees roots starting 3 feet above the ground. Tree knock over. Still it was a nice ride.

I started the long trip eastward towards Perry. It is a long desolate road. I saw some FLA whitetail and raccoons. Long and straight for 60 miles. I passed maybe two cars.

It has been raining almost all day. Not like Arkansas, but a steady drizzle. I have stayed mostly dry.

I am eating lunch in Perry. Then I start the trek south.

I made it. About 35 hrs after leaving. I left Perry and headed south. The rain stopped and it got warm. Real warm. I pulled over and took off all the warm clothes. It was a beautiful ride. I join in behind the "iron pigs" group and zoomed the rest of the way. It was fantastic ride. I had a lot of fun.

Why the bike? Because the journey is as much a part of the adventure as the destination.
