Rainy Blue Mt's, Bondi Beach & Back Again

After a race to catch the train, we arrived in Katoomba in the Blue Mt's Nat Park after a 2hr journey from Sydney. Our accomodation for our 2 night stay was no 14 backpackers - a really nice, small and cozy hostel. Once checked in we walked down to Echo Point from where we could see the famous Three Sisters rock formation. Beyond it, as far as we could see, lay a sea of deep green vegetation with level topped mts rising up like islands. We spent the afternoon following the cliff top trails. First we went down to sit on one of the three sisters, then from Echo Point we went past numerous scenic lookouts and the trickle that is Katoomba Falls! The weather sunny in the afternoon but by the time we walked back to the hostel it had began to rain. Both of us were shattered come the evening - a culmination of the past few days of endless sightseeing. On the 11th we had plenty of time to relax as it hammered down for basically the entire day. Hearing the rain we had a lovely lie in and spent hours lounging on the comfy sofas reading and chatting. It was a shame we didnt get to see more of the Blue Mts but mother nature made us stop and relax which was good. We left Katoomba on the 12th and it was still raining! We caught the train back to Sydney Central from where we caught another train, east to Bondi Junction and then the bus to Bondi Beach where we arrived about 2.30pm to more rain! Not only that but the hostel we booked was a bit of a cramped tip. We took a stroll down to the famous beach where large waves were crashing on the shore and we watched surfers trying to ride them. Bondi Beach really didnt live up to its reputation as the area around it looked tatty and was heavily grafittied. What with the hostel as well, we got our bags together and got back on the bus/train and returned to Sydney!
