Today Jen Ken and I went riding yet again at Bear Creek. We took a few warm up runs on the bunny slope and then went right over to the beginner's slope with the chair lift.

It wasn't too crowded at the mountain so the line for the lift was pretty short. We had tried going up with all 3 of us on the lift but when we tried to get off we knocked each other over so we decided to get on with only two on a chair and the next person in the next chair. Jen managed to get off ok, Ken fell and I came up behind them and got off with out falling.

Once again the slope was slushy because of the warm weather we've been having. It made it harder to ride and the boards kept getting stuck but it also slowed the baords down somewhat.

We did quite a few runs on the beginner's slope.I think out of about 8 times we got on the lift we managed to get off without falling about twice.

On the last run we decided to get on the high speed quad chair lift to the top of the mountain. My god when they say that its quick they aren't joking! The lift approached the station much quicker than the one of the beginner's slope. We all stood up at the wrong time and went flying through the air...we were all laughing as it happened because we knew what was going to happen. We flew acoss the slope and face planted in the slope. The people at the top, the people behind us and the lifty thought it was hysterical. Then we had to quickly crawl away from the slope before the next chair hit us!

Once we all managed to get up and get strapped into our bindings we set off down the slope which was much steeper and more narrow than the beginner's slope. We made the mistake of going on the big slope after the sun had start to set and it had started to get icy.

I couldn't have gotten more than 20 feet down the slope when my board kicked out from under me and I was slammed onto my back into the icy slope! It felt horrible, I wasn't prepared for it, I was going far too fast. Thankfully I didn't hit my head! After I managed to get up I noticed that my left binding was broke. I'm not sure if it broke and caused my fall or if my fall caused it to break but either way I had to take my board off and walk it down the entire mountain. Man did that suck!

After I hoofed it down the mountain I went into the tune shop. The guy inside happened to have a spare part for my Cinch binding so he put it on for me. It only cost about $10.00. He told me to call Pinnacle and tell them about my biniding to see what they could do.

It was a good night but we really shouldn't have taken that last run. It was too late, we were too tired and it was too icy.

So 2 lessons learned. 1. Wear a helmet on the bigger slope. 2. Don't do that "last run" when you are tired.

The good news is that I called Pinnacle and they told me to bring my board in to see what they can do about my binding.
