We arrive in Bayonne feeling a little bit better all around and now we are within an hour or two of our destination which is Pamplona Spain.
Bayonne is in the French Basque Country, population around 40,000 and is famous for it's marzipan and smoked ham. Also tradition says that the bayonet was developed here in the early 17th century. For us Bayonne is just a place to sleep for the night and have a meal before setting off again in the morning.
By this point of our trip Dana and I have decided that we don't really enjoy France as much as we do Spain. It seems that most of France has an attitude. The food is horribly expensive and not that great. We miss Spain. We want cheap tapas and the local roja (wine)...
After another overpriced dinner (this one was better than most we've had though) we head back to the hotel. We didn't even take a walk around the town. The view from our room was beautiful and we were happy to just sit inside and look out the window. It was raining and cold, all the better to stay inside.
Tomorrow onto Pamplona Spain and the San Fermin Festival.
