As seems to be the habit of my travels, I have had my first bit of trouble with my transport.

Having caught the over-night train from Scunthorpe to Stansted, the train got stopped just outside of Newark due to flooding. This can kind of be understandable considering the recent weather (ie. The only reason you know its Summer is the music festivals have started!) however the salt was truely rubbed into the wound when both the tracks on either side of us were fine and 4 trains happily sped past us with no regard. And the train was stuck on a 20degree angle too! For 1 1/2hrs! I gave up trying to catch my connecting train to Cambridge and instead went through to Kings Cross arriving at 1:40am. (Sorry for not popping in to say Hi Hannah!) So as Kings Cross isn't a 24hr station, we were promptly kicked out onto the street to fend for ourselves! I felt bad after as I forgot to thank GNER and their staff for that friendly experience! I eventually found a taxi and he helped get me to Liverpool St Station to catch the shuttle bus to Stansted in time. The flight was delayed by 30 mins but that didn't inconvenience me at all but one thing I noticed now at Stansted is that after your bags have gone trough X-ray, you get stopped and your shoes are entitled to their own X-ray. Were possible, wear thongs (sorry flip-flops!) to avoid this hold up in future.

I crashed out on he flight over and was re-awoken as we started to decend and my ears started to get affected by the cabin pressure (I have a cold at the moment!) Very painful decent although I know I won't get any sympathy from Kate.

A short bus ride from Biarritz Airport to Bayonne Gare and I missed my connecing bus to St. Jean-Pied-de-Port by 2mins! So a 3hr wait and I'll be at the start. Any thought of walking the first day today has well and truely gone as it's 27Km with a 1450m height gain. Will get some rest first.

Time to start learning more of that Spanish I think...

g'day boofhead. just be glad you didn't take one of your world famous "short-cuts", otherwise you would have ended up back in Scunthorpe... looking forward to hearing from you. Lil' bruva
