Since the Ile De Brehat we spent another couple of nights in Brittany seeing the coast and getting the final problems with the camping car fixed. On the 27th April we caught the ferry from St. Malo to Weymouth (via Jersey and Guernsey). The ferry took five and a half hours and duty free drinks etc were available (we didn’t realise so had already stocked up in France).

We arrived into Weymouth late and spent the night at Fleet farm campsite which we didn’t really see much of, but we found out later is supposed to be pretty good.

The next day we drove to the Hoeburne Bashley campsite where we have stayed before. The site and the facilities are excellent with a great indoor pool with waterslide, games room and kids play are. The campsite staff however, seem to have a penchant for rules – they even give you a notice telling you how to park…

Bashley itself is in the New Forrest, which is a lovely area. We met up with some of Claires family and they showed us around to a beautiful spot in the forest and also to the local farm shop where I stocked up on sausages ;-)

We also cycled through some of the forest trails and saw the wild ponies and even a snake (an adder) on the cycle path. In fact we nearly ran the snake over and I only realised what it was when it tried to bite the wheels of the bike as Claire went one side of it and I went the other ;-)

Dave.
