Taipu de Fora beach (a 15 minute drive away) is fantastic! 3rd best in Brazil apparantly (but we don´t know what 1&2 are!) Surfing, snorkling, empty sands, crystal waters and a few bars if you fancy a caipirinha.

Barra Grande is nice too, no hassle and laid back with locals holidaying there. Our Pousada was good value esp if you can get the one with the balcony as Mum and Peter did! Staff rather grumpy though and breakfast included some strange offerings.
