Bit of a chilly one last night so no-ones too active this morning, we do our morning routines in the bushes then get in the truck & head to Galvans Gorge.
Its a walk through long spiky grass up to our heads & the lil spiky bits resemble needles which like to stick in every item of clothing. Just by the side of the pool at the end is a rock face which has aboriginal paintings on it, a snake & a spirit which is overlooking the pool to ensure no-one swims in the foot of the waterfall as this is supposedly where the serpents live & they are sacred & should not be disturbed.
Everyone jumps in the pool via rope swing due to the walk in entry point being covered by spiders webs & huge huntsmans, harmless but not friendliest looking spiders! We mess about for half hour or so then we go to Barnett River Roadhouse to get our crappy tires fixed. The man can fix one but the other is blown & irrepairable, we're back upto 2 spares now.
Lunch is a nice secluded spot through long grass by Hann River, we have a swim upstream and let the strong current carry us back down then watch a baby parrot being fed by its parents & some rainbow parakeets flying about. We leave here early afternoon & Dan tries to find a waterfall through the very long grass as the one we were sposed to go to is still closed off, we drive for ages through the grass then all of a sudden everyone is on top of everyone else squished up to the front 2 seats as Dan has driven straight down into a big ditch. We all have to get out so he can 4x4 outta the hole. We give up on waterfall and head to The Gibb River for an early camp.
We have a wash in the river and play some volleyball with a net made out of tent poles and an old rope. Unfortunately there's loadsa mozzies about so we have to use the tents to camp out tonight - boo! It is warmer though :0).
