You would think that you were in the Swiss Alps rather than Argentina when you arrive in Bariloche.  Its full of wood cabins and chocolate shops and is situated on the lake Nahuel Hapi.  The views from the town are beautiful and its only 30 minutes to Cerro Catedral, South America´s largest ski resort.

We spent 3 days relaxing in a hosteria which had heating and cable TV then stayed in the hostel to save some money!

The downside of Bariloche is that its more expensive than the rest of Argentina and we struggled to find places to eat that were reasonably priced.  However compared to Chile it is still cheap.

We took a group class for snowboarding in the Cerro and on day 2 we went on our own to practice our skills.

Mal in particular spent more time on her backside than stood on the board but hopefully this will improve over time! Still, we caught the snowboarding bug and plan to do some more before we leave S.A..

Bariloche is a great place for snowboarding and chocoholics! The chocolate shops are everywhere and sell high quality chocolate, on a par with Belgian chocolate only, you guessed it - cheaper!!! Good job you can burn off those extra calories on the slopes!!
