Yesterday, we took the plane from Amsterdam to Madrid, Madrid to Barcelona. By the time we arrived and settled in at our Hostel (the Graffiti Hostel - which is only 12 euros a night!), we were too tired to do any real sightseeing, and it was getting late, so we headed out into the city for a walk and something to eat.
Barcelona is a very overwhealming place. Tons of people, tons of colour, and a lot of noise. Walking down the main street was a feast for the eyes. People selling anything you can imagine at little corner booths, from scarves to chickens.
There are a lot of restraunts, but many of them were too expensive, so it took us a good hour to find something decent, and even then we had to wait a while for a table! The menu was tapas-ish, we both got full club sandwiches and some really good honey mint chicken wings. Karin of course had to sample the Sangria as well, which was very good. We went back to the hostel and to bed.
Today we have yet to make any plans. We've done so much sightseeing in such a short time these past few days, we've been exhausted. So we're probably just going to hang out in the hostel. We've already bought some fruit and things to snack on, and we predict it's going to be a very, laid back, easy day.
The hostel we are staying at is very large, as it takes up a full floor of the building it's in. There are a lot of people here, and one dog, which we think is kind of the place's mascot. The staff don't speak english very well, so we can't really ask. But he is very cute and enjoys sniffing, sleeping, and chewing on everything from garden hoses, to camera straps, to Karins feet. We don't know his name, but Christy has been calling him "Bat Dog"
