By special request, I am writing this journal to keep those who are still reading it caught up on our whereabouts...
So I think we left off in Nice...
We got there and settled in and walked around the old town which is reminiscent of Italy, not that I´ve been to Italy but what I imagine it to be. Then we chilled on the beach - they call it a pebble beach but its more like medium sized rocks.
Went back to the hostel, ate dinner and I dipped into my 1.5L bottle of Sangria that lasted me 5 rounds of Kings until late into the night. The next day we went back into town and checked out Monaco...
We took a bus but apparantly I was the go-to guy and I fell asleep. We passed Monaco, the next city, and ended up at the border of Italy an hour an a half later. A gorgeous bus ride regardless. Kinda like the sea-to-sky with tighter roads, sketchy drivers, and a mediterranean coastline view.
Once at Monaco we walked around the city, its something like 2 square km so it didnt take long. We checked out the famous casino but we were high-rolling enough to go into the playing area. They were setting up for the Monaco Grand Prix which was cool to see. Lotsa nice cars, trophy wives, and kids wearing Louis Vutton backpacks.
That night we repeated the previous night´s events except we had to wake up early to catch our train.
We have to realize that the French are not very helpful. We waited in the wrong line (as instructed) and almost missed our train. We did however, miss our connecting train in Montpellier. We had our first fast-food meal at gourmet level prices.
Finally got our connecting train to Barcelona in a cart with 6 canadian dudes who were popping their wine bottles the whole ride. Got to Barcelona finally at night and walked what seemed like forever to our hostel. Settled in, ate, and hit up the hostel bar for 1L €3 beers. Went out on the streets to find the big party scene but after walking forever, all we found were empty bars and dead night clubs.
The next day we went straight to the beach and hung out there. That´s pretty much it. The Euro Championship soccer game was on featuring Barcelona so the hostel bar got packed with people watching. It was was pretty awesome even though I´m not the biggest soccer fan. Barcelona won and the city partied on the streets all night. We tried to find a club but got lost and just decided to come back.
The next day we lay on the beach again and then prepped for the pub crawl. We began at 9:30pm and headed to 4 bars before making it to the final place which was 2 night clubs and an Irish bar in one closed off area. Along the way we had stopped at a shooter bar and had some great shots and I bought a couple interesting ones for Nick and his lady friend. She got the Monica Lewinsky - think scandalous. Nick got some other one that I will call the SackFace. No need to explain because you really don´t want to know.
We danced to techno and R & B and made the long trek home.
Woke up today, Friday, and went sightseeing to the Gaudi Museum/La Sangra Famillia and to the Barcelona Cathedral. Awesome exhibits. Tonight we´re gonna try to make it a Sangria Bar and then find a cheap club. Maybe back to the shooter bar...oh I didnt mention that shots were only 1.50 each! Devon would have a hayday.
Then tomorrow we´re going to get to the rest of the sights, and rest up because we fly to Ibiza the next morning for two days. We´ll updae from Madrid by Wednesday or so. Adios!
