Today I went to the world's largest market.  It has somewhere between 8,000 & 17,000 stalls and on a saturday 50,000 ppl will show up.  It was super crowded, and on Sunday up to 200,000 people will go to it!  They sell everything here, from abercrombie knock offs for $2 to live stingrays/manta rays, scorpions and exotic snakes.  Flipflops are $1 and there are all kinds of exotic foods.  Lots of people yelling & walking around and the occasional western music booming from stereos.  The only things I bought were some homemade ice cream, a pineapple smoothie, and bottle of water.  I'll go back there right before I leave & buy souverniers and all of that stuff.  They have lots of cool ornamental things like Buddhas & elephants in all types of material.  My mom & people who like garage sales would be in love with this place!

Its interesting, even though I am halfway across the world the people are very much like in the US.  Especially the younger kids.  They all wear abercrombie/polo/other famous brand (probably knockoffs)  Guys and girls walk around holding hands & talking on their cell phones just like here.  That was something I thought off when I got off the airplane, it kinda looks like UW. haha.

There was so much food at the market, but I was scared to try it, I didn't want to get sick.  They have meat just sitting out in the open with bugs flying all around it.  I didn't take any photos of the market though, a lot of the stores had signs that said no photos.

Oh the other interesting thing is how many huge companies have business over here.  Coca-Cola, 7eleven, McDonalds, FHM magazine, its crazy & makes me think of my globalization class.  Oh I decided not to take the bus to Phuket, instead I bought a plane ticket for $38.  Definately worth it, only 1hr 20 min flight compared to 12hr bus ride for $20.  So I'm going down to Phuket on Monday night & I can't wait to start training.  I think I'm going to goto Fairtex monday morning and train as well.

dude i miss you much and i am glad you got a plane ticket instead of a bus, because you might run over a land mine on the bus and get blown up. do they even have land mines in thailand? or is that just middle east. i'm sorry i'm watching too much 24 right now, so everything is explosions for me.

Jess! I am so happy for you! Yeah and about the open-air markets and food. Good call, I ran into the same thing in South America. Okay this sounds totally stupid, but dude I am so proud of you! What you are doing right now is the coolest thing ever. Not to mention that it takes a lot of balls. Okay, so I was driving the other day and I remembered something from back in the day so when you get back you are going to have to confirm the hilarity of this story for me...god knows it was a long ass time ago. Keep exploring and I'll keep reading...in the record setting rainfall (26 days straight) BE SAFE! -shell
