The Land of Smiles........yep, people are definitely alot friendlier here than in China....and everyone speaks English (that's terrible isn't it???) - well, at least here in Bangkok anyways!

We're staying in Sukumvit which is apparently the newest part of Bangkok. Apparently, it can be divided into two personalities, one side which is the sex tourist sector ruled by girlie bars and the other side - abit more expat and with every imaginable nationality.

The main attraction here is Wat Phra Kaew - another place to tick off from my BBC book of 'Places to See'. To get there, it was a journey on the skytrain followed by the public boat bus up the river (soooo cool if alittle scary that you might fall into the river getting aboard and leaving the boat as the boat just pulls up next to the pier with no proper docking!) The Wat itself is pretty spectacular. Just remember that you can't even wear knee length shorts - I forgot and had to borrow one of those wrap cloth skirts which is ok but with this over my skirt and my zip up hoodie to cover my arms I was melting as I walked around.

This didn't particularly help especially since I saw the most gorgeous Italian man ever!!!!!! Sigh...he was SO FIT!!!! It was funny because when I pointed him out, Michelle thought it was this skinny Brit I was admiring (to which she questioned my taste in men - come on, give me some credit!!!!! Anways, she didn't realise and asked the Italian  Stalion to take a picture for us. I almost fainted! And even Michelle - after realising that this was THE GUY - had to admit that he was really nice! Is it bad to say that the Wat comes second to the Italian as the most amazing thing I saw in Bangkok!!!

A Thai Classical Dinner Show was our way of learning abit more of the Thai culture followed by a Cabaret show to see what Bangkok really has to offer! Both were mediocre (actually both looked pretty much like they had just gotten a few people off the streets that morning and taught them the routine in the afternoon) so I think that next time I will just splurge out more and get one of those bigger shows. The Cabaret show was full of stunning girls with fantastic figures....it was only after the show when I heard them speak that I realise they were all in fact ...um, not women afterall! Oh and don't take pictures with them unless you are ready to tip them.....and plus who wants to be in a picture in which the ladyboys are so much  prettier than yourself!

Bangkok doesn't seem as seedy as people make it out to be but I guess you need to be a local to know more about these things. Although, we did go to Silom (full of touristy yet filthy bars - thai girls or maybe guys - who can tell eh?) where we were overwhelmed by offers to see the 'Banana Ping Pong' show to which we politely declined. For those, who have been leading a too sheltered life like me, let me explain that I had to ask a friend what Banana Ping Pong was. I won't explain on my blog for fear that they will close my site down (!)but let's just say I never thought a girl could do that with a pingpong ball Go figure!
