Flying The R.O.K

In and around Tarawa, Kiribati

Welcome to The Republic Of Kiribati, enter images of sun kissed coconut palms, white sand and tropical coral atolls surrounded by an erie vastness. In 1943, the Japanese Military decided to make camp on a tiny island located in the North Pacific called Tarawa, In November of that year the battle for Tarawa against United States Marine Corps and United States Navy would be on the of the bloodiest battles of all time. 3 days or 72 hours or 4320 minutes of intense close quarter combat that spilled blood onto the minute island. How did I come to find my self living in Tarawa, Kiribati ? I was here on a short term 1-2 month contract to fly for a local airline and assist them in training their pilots to operational standard.
