Aloha Honolulu - First time to Oahu
In and around Hawaii, United States
I've never had much interest in Hawaii - It was always so far away and synonymous with Weddings or Honeymoons... Not my style. But now - Dating my Hawaiian I can't wait to get there and see his home away from home, eat and drink and soak in the hot sun! I'm ready!!
Friday - Long Day of Travel. 7am DC to Dallas, then SF for 3 hours then of to Honolulu to arrive 14 hours later at 7pm local time. We somehow got the exit row on our last leg – so that was a bonus!!
Jerome’s parents picked us up at the airport and whisked us off to traditional Asian fare for late dinner. We went to Saimen – which is the most humongous bowl of noodles and then 53 different combinations of meats and cabbage and vegetables. Spam being the most popular and I think comes on everything no matter what you ordered. As I got the ONLY vegetarian Saimen which was topped with Spam strips. Yummy
We devoured our noodle bowls and went back to the Bumanglag Family Home, which sits atop Pearl Harbor and a million dollar view of the ocean. Spectacular!! We met both Joanne and her husband "T" who are taking care of the family home. Joanne is Jerome's Grandmother's Neice. We chatted for as long as we could keep our eyes open and were in bed and asleep 20 minutes later.
There are 5 more entries at the bottom - Thanks for allowing me to share our trip!! Hope you enjoy the entries
