What are your first thoughts when you consider 'Japan'? Are you one of those that see the country's stunning natural scenery; beautiful views of Mt. Fuji, Cherry Blossoms and waterfalls clad in their autumn colours? Do you immediately connect to Japan's traditional culture; towering temples, Buddhist sects shrouded in secrecy and idyllic shines? Or are you struck by the high-tech, modern culture that has developed around the thriving metropolis of Tokyo?
Which of these images best represents the country of Japan, or are their other aspects that remain hidden on this mysterious isle?
This question is going to be the main theme of my trip, and as I venture through this bold, exciting country, I hope to be able to answer it.
