La familia
In and around South America
Well I have finally arrived at my house in Buenos Aires. My family is the Egas family. My fantastic house is in San Telmo, which used to be the richest part of Buenos Aires but when more immigrants came the wealthy people decided to move north because they didnt want to live with the worker class. There was also a large portion of the city that had issues with Yellowfever. As you can see there is so much history and our school does a really nice job with giving us information about our city.
Anyway the family is composed of a mother Graciela; father Luis; grandfather Niño, a daughter Gabby, who is 20, and two brothers Fernando 16 and Federico 7. I have not met the grandfather yet because he is up north with his other daughter but he used to be a chef and cooks all the meals. I have also not met Gabby because she is on vaction with friends. It is common that kids who are students whether in high school or college to not have a job, umm something about this culture I like! This lives time for the students to have fun on there breaks and travel. I guess I cant complain to much; right dad?
On Sunday I went to the biggest market; which happens to be in my neighborhood in Plaza Dorrego. This market is insane! There are musicans, singers, tango dancers, street performers, antiques, silver, food, and tons and tons of people. I spent 5 hours walking around and looking at all of the antiques before deciding on a tea set made in Argentina. It is so beautiful and I think a really nice piece, I bought it for $10 pesos or a little of $3 dollars. I also bought a dog figure that I think may be made from the same company or these little rosters that my Grandma Doris has. So if you are reading this Grandma and can send me the name of that company that would be great!
Oh, my room in the house is beautiful. I live with another girl named Amanda and she is to funny! We really get along and are having a complete blast with each other. I think we have completly changed the famiyl dinner into a crazy festival but they seem to enjoy us! I just looked down and saw that I have class in 10 minutes! AHH THE TIME FLYS here! I will write more later!
love and miss you all, and please send emails or messages I would love to hear what you are all up to!
