Hi Everybody,
Well what I can I say............New York was absolutely fabulous!!!
We flew in at about 8.30pm and made our way to our Midtown apartment on East 50th Street - very nice and roomy - very New York!
First thing - George Bush went past our front door (streets completely blocked off) and then we walked past Wayne Swan 5min later. He was happy to acknowledge my "how ya going" in a deliberately aussie tone.

The rest of the day was a bit of working out how to get around plus going to the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Tiffany's and then......topped off with Mamma Mia on Broadway and Limo ride home that night (budget now cactus.........)
The second day we went on cruise around the harbour which took in the sights including the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge, etc, etc.
Unfortunately the weather was foggy and drizzle but.....we learnt how to get on the subway and went to the financial district to see Ground Zero - very moving, especially the the tribute to the firemen who lost their lives. We then walked on the Brooklyn Bridge which Martin has wanted to do since first studying Civil Engineering - very satisfying!

That evening we went to Macy's - a large department store - where Lisa bought some Christmas decorations - the amount on display was really something.
We then intended to do the Empire State Building at night but - visibility was "zero" at the viewing platform (86th floor). So we decided to have an early night and maybe fit it in the next day.
More soon.............
