Accidental Luxembourg trip
In and around Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Saturday morning greeted us with a smile! It was absolutely beautiful...the first REAL full day of sunshine that we have had since we came to Germany. We were all ready and pumped for a short little drive to the beautiful Trier!
...
Three hours later, we were almost to Luxembourg instead. Let's just say that all roads lead to Saarbrucken!
But we made it to Luxembourg sometime in the early afternoon, split up, ate some lunch, saw some sites, then regrouped to see some more sites. I finally got to eat some McDonald's! And I learned to NEVER order a plain cheeseburger again! Steven had warned me, but I definitely waited almost twenty minutes for a silly burger. Next time, I'll just wipe. :-)
We walked through the streets and saw all the shops. There are so many neat shops all along the streets in Europe, which I like much better than in the states. It's lovely!
We found the best attraction by accident...Andrea really had to relieve her bladder (what's new??), so she walked up to a tour guide and asked if she could go into some huge, ornate statehouse right in front of us! I don't think the guard with the huge gun would have let that fly. After a brief, humorous conversation, she asked the tour guide where we should go (given that we didn't have any maps or tourbooks of Luxembourg!), and he recommended a huge castle down the road a bit. These castles just keep getting better and better and BETTER! We could tell that the castle had covered a huge area of the town because we walked along one of the walls of the fortress, across a bridge, and then along another wall, and we were still on the castle grounds! It was SOOOO neat! Europe just keeps topping itself!
More to come...
