Road to Jyogjakarta

Jogjakarta is pretty much a full day's drive from Jakarta.
I wouldn't recommend doing the drive at night, but during the day there are some nice 'alternative' routes to take through rice feilds and padis and small towns.
Jogjakarta's population used to depend on tourism for an income, but a swathe of natural disasters and a plane crash has had a big negative impact on tourism.
It's a pity, because the people of Jogjakarta are among the friendliest and most gentle I've ever met. They really don't deserve it.
