Around the Country in 2 weeks

In and around Bolivia

It´s hard to believe the last time I wrote was so long ago and I´m sorry it took so long. I have a bunch of blogs on my laptop waiting to be posted but will have to wait till we are at the Grays. This is not a laptop country for sure. I´m at an Entel right off the main plaza using one of their computers. Anyway, today is August 2nd I think and we´re in Cochabamba, all healthy. The three older ones had music lessons this morning in quena and zampoña. The boys are doing really good and I´m coming along too.

You guys can look forward to hearing about our adventures in Sucre, Potosi, Uyuni, and La Paz. The altidude here seems so nice in comparison and the nights don´t seem as cold either.

HUGE PRAISE- Mom´s passport is ready to be picked up tomorrow! Uncle Carlos helped out and then yesterday and this morning Mom made the rounds of getting the missing birth certificate, ID, and marriage certificate. The passport was a major concern and now we can be confident that we all get to leave the country together!

As far as homesickness goes, on long car trips my mind definately is mostly in the States, I´ll be really happy to be back. 6 weeks is pretty long.

Tomorrow we´re possibly heading to the Chapare, the jungle area closest to where we are. This is an area our grandma Pilar pioneered in the area of selling merchandise. We´re spending the night there and then returning, so it´ll be a full two days.

August 12th right now is our next big date. That is when all of mom´s relatives will trek to Aunt Lucy´s house for a salteñada that we´re hosting. It´ll be an afternoon full of music. Our cousin Tito, one of Bolivia´s best charangists, is bringing a friend and they´re playing, the Tapia sisters are singing, Sarah is dancing, we´re doing our music, Jonny his magic, and we may even have our music teacher, Luis Rojas, come play with us on the Bolivian instruments. He also has a studio where he says he wants to record us. Man, we need to practice.
