Can't believe it has been almost a month after arriving in HCMC before we embark on what we are here to do -- travel.

Travel by open-tour-bus in VN is fun and inexpensive.  We paid US$ 22 each for the whole trip that will take us to six destinations from the south, HCMC to the capital in the north, Hanoi.  It's an interesting way to meet other travelers from all over the globe.  Most of the fellow travelers speaks English.  Some are harder to understand than the others though.  Almost all of them (us) travel with some kinds of guide book.

I said to the beach...not "in" it :-)

Our first destination:  Mui Ne -- a beautiful beach town caters mostly to tourists.  But we learn to take the local bus to the near by town of Phan Thiet, the capital city of Binh Thuan province, where the locals live off the seas by fishing and there are factories which process catch of the day into a desired level of fermentation calls "nuoc mam".  See our pics from both cities and somewhere in between, plus surrounding areas.
