Hi Yve- First, I would highly reccommend not living in Ulsan. It is a very industry-centered city and most people that teach there don't like it. Not much to do and lower wages. I worked in Ilsan, just outisde of Seoul and it is the best place to be. I can't reccomend anyone in Ulsan, but there is a great foreign wing of Severence University Hospital which would be a great place to start! Good luck...

I really think you should find a job in Ilsan. Hwajeong and Ilsan are not far from one another. You just jump on the subway and it's a few minutes. I have a friend in Ilsan who also has a group of friends in Seoul and they make it work. She's really happy in Ilsan. I can't underscore enough how much you will need the green of Lake Park because the way Korea is built can be pretty disheartening if you are a nature lover.

hello, i have two job offers in korea one in mokdong and one in Hwajeong and i wanted your pros and cons of both if possible. i have a friend who is currently working in mokdong and keeps telling me that Hwajeong is too far outside of the city and that i'd probably be bored out there. however i'm not so sure i'd be able the immense concrete jungle. anyway any advise you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! It is not too far from Seoul, although I don't know the exact time or how much tickets cost. I know that Incheon is not on the metro line for the Seoul subway, but there is probably a bus for $3 or so to Seoul. I know from Ilsan, which is a suburb of Seoul, it cost $7 for a bus ticket to the Incheon intl. airport....You should look on Englishkong.com. It's a helpful expat website in Korea. Best of luck!

So is Ilsan more than an hour away from Hwajeong? Is Hwajeong as "green" as Ilsan and "quaint" looking as Ilsan or is it more like Seoul? I really want to walk in Lake Park on a regular basis, it looks so beautiful. Maybe I should just try to find a job in Ilsan if I'm looking for a more outdoor friendly place. It's a very big decision and I'm having a tough time figuring out if I should stay closer to where I have friends (Seoul) or go to a nicer area (Ilsan) so to speak. Oh well, any advice would again be a big help. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with mokdong, but I really liked Hwajeong because it is right on the Seoul subway line and very close to Ilsan, which is where I lived. It's one of the suburbs of Seoul and it's closer to Seoul than Ilsan. Ilsan is the best one, I think. Just so you know, all of Korea is going to be an "immense concrete jungle," so you can't really get away from it. Hwajeong has the usual American chains and Korean chaos, but everything in that area is really close to the fun outdoor malls of Ilsan and it's about an hour (or less, really) subway ride to Seoul. Let me know if you have any more questions and good luck!

I am moving to Incheon in 12 days. From what I hear it is not too far from Seoul and is a bit cleaner and less crowded. By any chance do you know how long it takes to get to Seoul from Incheon and about how much the cab or train ticket would be?
