Going back to New Orleans in 2008

It's been too long since I've been to New Orleans (October 2007 - LOL).  Ok, well long enough.  Even though I'm very excited about my pending trip to Arizona this autumn, I've been itching to get back down to New Orleans sometime this summer.

The friend that I'm going with and I had a heck of a time finding a weekend that worked for us both and one that I could get a good deal on as well.  After ruling out June and July - much to my dismay - my friend suggested two different weekends in August that she had free.  So last night I went deal-searching and found one that worked for one of those weekends and for both of our budgets.

I got to work this morning and requested the time off - but I had to wait for my friend who had to do the same at her job.  It was about 11:30 when I get her text message saying that she got the time off.  I threw my arms up into the air and squealed, "Yes! Yes! Yes!" - freaking out the girls I sit the closest to.  I'm generally pretty mellow and they've never seen me act out with such excitement before.  (Then I quickly booked our trip.)

I'm equally dreading and anticipating the heat/humidity down there in August.  Chicago is pretty bad too at that time of year, so I don't think it'll be too shocking, just a matter of going from really bad to worse.  But it is something I want to experience.

I'm so excited!
