In and around Cyprus

Cyprus is the third biggest island country in the Mediterranean Sea which attracts well over two million people a year from tourism. Nicosia is the main capital and the largest city in Cyprus, divided by a large wall with the Greeks occupying the south side and the Turkish occupying the north (one third of the island) due to Turkish invasion in 1974. Cyprus is a fully developed country and became a member of the EU system during 2004. The country is most famous for its beautiful architecture which I managed to sample some of for the two weeks I was there, and also famous for being the mythical birthplace of the goddess of love and beauty 'Aphrodite'. My trip took me and a couple of friends to the south side of the island to a little quiet place called Paphos which is where it is believed that Aphrodite was born.
