Israel
In and around United States
With less than 2 weeks to go, I am busily getting ready to embark on my 1st trip to Israel (Jewish National Fund's 2nd Queen of Sheba Women's Mission) . All the major details --- passport, airline & hotel reservations, and tours are set. I have my super new HP digital camera with extra memory; my new 80 gb iPod fully loaded with music & movies; 2 George Orwell memoirs (Burmese Days and Down and Out in London and Paris); Italian for Dummies Workbook; Frommer's Guide to Israel; and Hebrew phrase book.
Sadly headlines this morning contained nothing but bad news from Jerusalem and Gaza, but I am not prepared to change my plans.
I have been told by everyone that I should be prepared to experience a multitude of different emotions as I encounter the land and the people of Israel. I am sure this is true, but I am not sure how you can prepare yourself for this. Hopefully this blog will serve two purposes; to communicate to my friends and family my encounters and reactions while they are fresh; and secondly to capture the memories for myself and so I can re-live the adventure when it is done.
