Vietnam & Thailand
In and around Southeast Asia
Welcome to Laurie and Adam's Travel Blog!!!
Laurie and I are excited to share our wonderful adventures in Vietnam and Thailand with you. We're going to be bringing you Pulitzer Prize worthy material here. We wish you could all join us on our travels, but knowing that you can't, you can live vicariously through us, as you stay at home toiling away at your jobs. Yes, you'll be at work, and we'll be traveling the world, seeing amazing sites, meeting amazing people, eating amazing food, and just generally having the time of our lives.
We're less than two weeks away. We've been anticipating this trip for a long time, as it's been almost 2 years since we have been overseas, and if you know anything about us, that's far too long. Originally, this trip was going to be to India. The heat in August made us think about other countries to see. We thought about Croatia or Peru and Bolivia, and ultimately settled on Vietnam and Laos. Then, we decided that there was just too much to see in Vietnam, and now we're basically doing only Vietnam. We've got about 4 days in Bangkok, mainly because it's cheaper to fly in and out of Bangkok, but I'll tell ya, we love Bangkok and don't mind the imposition.
So, we're starting north and heading south. After a couple days in Bangkok, we're headed to:
- Hanoi (3 days in the beautiful northern city of French, Chinese, and Vietnamese influence).
- Halong Bay (the UNESCO site famous for limestone caves)
- Hue (Vietnam's cultural and culinary center)
- Ho Chi Minh City (the bustling former Saigon)
- Phu Quoc (a sparsely populated island)
