Cherry Blossoms, Torii Gates and Geishas
In and around Japan

Spring break, cherry blossoms, Geisha performances, frequent flyer miles, Torii Gates. The combination pointed in a clear direction - Japan. Beginning eleven months in advance, we were able to cash is a bunch of miles and obtain three coach tickets from Seattle to Tokyo (and, fortunately, back). Over the following months, we researched destinations within Japan and potentially affordable accomodations and developed a fairly simple itinerary - Tokyo, Miyajima Island and Kyoto. And then we watched the dollar drop against the yen (still better off than against the Euro!), made our final hotel reservations, bought our Japan Rail passes, packed and headed to SeaTac in late March. Come along with us (virtually) as we explore this most fascinating of countries. (And, don't worry, even though I came home with 1025 digital photos, I'll spare you from seeing 95% or more of them!)
