Croatia by Sea

In and around Croatia

For one glorious week this summer my family and friends toured Croatia by chartered boat.

Here's a photo book of the journey

Hi- Croatia is great. And once there, it isn't too expensive. The flight (from SFO) was close to $2K (ouch), but I used frequent flyer miles. The boat was ~$200/day/person and that included all meals. Seemed like a very economical way to travel. You could rent a car for the mainland and take ferries to the islands. But I really think the chartered boat is the way to go. In terms of islands, Hvar is a must see. Mjlet is another not to miss. You'll want to go to Dubrovnik as well. You might want to check into going in March. I think many things are seasonal and summer oriented and may not even be open in the winter. cheers, Tracy

Hi Romp- I assume it's possible to charter a boat for 2, but it might be spendy. Do you sail? We saw some smaller sailboat rentals out there (from croatia-sail I think). -Tracy

Hi Tracy! first off, your trip sounds amazing!! I am a college student and would really like to visit the Dalmatian Islands next March for my spring break. What islands do you recommend I visit? How is airfare to get there? Are there other ways of getting from island to island other than on a chartered boat? Money is kind of tight, so are there inexpensive places for me to stay? What are specific sights you recommend I see? Sorry about all the questions!

Hi- We actually didn't see a lot of college kids throughout Croatia. Hvar is quite upscale. There were some clubs there that attracted a younger crowd, but plenty of other places where anyone would feel comfortable. cheers, Tracy

Hi Tracy, I was looking online for comments about Croatia. Myself and some friends were planning on going there this summer in July. We are around your age and were wondering if the islands (like Hvar, Korcula)were full of spring breakers or if anyone would feel comfortable there? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks
