May 2006 London-Paris with my parents
In and around Europe
I visited Europe for the first time in my life in May-June 2006. I traveled to London and Paris between May 7 and June 3, 2006 with my parents. I had been planning this trip since Dec 2005.
We met up in London, I came from New Jersey, USA and my parents from Bombay, India. We lived in London for 12 days, went to Paris for 10 days and returned to London for another 6 days.
The weather was surprisingly good, in spite of all I had heard about UK and its rains. It did rain a little on most days, but it did not disrupt anything we were doing. Just duck into a shop or restaurant when it begins and when you come out, the rain is gone and the sun is shining. I guess after the deluge I was used to in Bombay, London rains were a breeze!
In May, we needed jackets and sweaters both in London and Paris. Not exactly tshirt and shorts weather yet. A little chilly at night. Most local people were still dressed in their winter clothing.
In all, it was a great trip, very rich in experiences. Both London and Paris have beautiful architecture in the city and many historical monuments in and around them. I love museums and had my fill of them on this trip. We took buses, taxis, trains, boats, subway, walked, had a simply wonderful time!
