Ready, Set, Fly

In and around Cyprus

Our first act of freedom once we were liberated from the airport was to get some lunch and go for a walk on the beach. I wanted to show Chloe that the four-connection airplane trip had been worth it. The detailed planning and packing paid off. We had a smooth trip with books, coloring, stickers, airplane walks, and eventually a 3-hour sleep on the 10-hour Philly to Athens leg of the trip. The only major meltdown happened on the Athens to Cyprus flight. The flight attendant woke us up to tell us to strap Chloe in with a seat belt that attached to my seat belt. Screams and sobs with 15 minutes of flying time left to go. We almost made it with a nearly perfect score.

Back to the beach. Chloe dug her toes into the sand and had to be held back from racing into the waves. With short naps and Cypriot coffee (same as Turkish coffee, but renamed for political purposes) we handled the car trip to Nicosia, went out to dinner, and stayed up until 9:00 pm local time. We are now enjoying 5 days in the capitol city. The Classic Hotel is wonderful. Chloe broke into a huge smile when she saw a crib in the room. She knew the worst was over.
