Mexico City
In and around Mexico City, Mexico
I wake up every morning with a chorus of singing birds and strings of sunlight that penetrate through my open window every morning, both not initially invited but welcome. The house where i'm staying is old and elegant, with the kind of high wooden ceilings you only encounter in buildings from long ago before air conditioning. It's 9 AM and outside the the world is moving while the sun shines; the air is fresh and cool. I get dressed and walk down the creaky antique steps downstairs to the terrence out in front, out to where the white paint is peeling away from the wooden pillars and the vibrant ceramic tiles color the entire scene. I descend 10 more stairs until the I reach a green iron gate, where I fumble for a key in my pocket, unlock the puerta and then step out into a city of enormous proportions that is contantly on the move. Welcome to Mexico City.
