Great cultures and empires flourished here centuries ago, and their descendants - over 50 distinct Indian peoples, each with their own language - maintain vestiges of their traditional lifestyles. For the traveller, Mexico holds inexhaustible fascination in its cultures, hotel and local cuisine, handicrafts, landscapes, art and rich history (the Mayan Pyramids for example).
