Day Negative 3, August 21st, 2007
In and around Riegelsville, United States
Welcome all, if you're reading this then chances are I know you as family, friends or just in passing. I will be writing of my adventures overseas and posting pictures on this website for you all to see. I encourage comments and remarks so please say what you like!
To begin, My name is Jerod De Mara, and I will be traveling abroad to pursue my studies in Sapporo, Japan. Sapporo is the 4th largest city in Japan and, is located in Hokkaido, the northern most island of the archipelago. Luckily for me and non-residents alike, it is laid out as many western cities- that is to say in a grid rather then the confounding Tokyo setup (which was built confusing to slow down invading armies). Sapporo is sub-arctic and experiences mild summers, chilling winters, and from what I understand, a great deal of snow.
It goes without saying (but I will say it anyway) that I am very exited/nervous about the upcoming trip; hopefully this travel journal will give you an accurate portrayal of how I am feeling and what I am doing, so please enjoy! (pretty) soon to come are pictures and my first entry at some point.
Enjoy!
