Chile - the final leg of the journey

In and around Chile

Heading to Chile to Join Dee, Roberto and the Kids for almost three weeks before heading home on the 5th of January. They went straight from Buenos Aires to santiago while I did a bit od a detour before getting here.

Roberto and Nano met me at the airport Monday evening. They had stayed at Nano and Anita's until thesaturday when they all headed off to the apartment in Renaca which is just past Vina del Mar...like about 1km. On Monday Roberto bussed into saniago to collect their car..a bottle green Chrysler Voyager... and then off to the airport to collect me and make the trip back to Vina.

It was quite a long trip 130km's and as Roberto's car did not have the sticker on the windscreen to get through the toll roads in santiago which are around the airport, they decided to leave Anita with the car and to for Roberto and Nano to come to the airport in nano's car. Good plan until we could't find our way back to Anita!! However we did find her and we all went our own ways.

My flight arrived in at 8pm and it was about 11.30 before we arrived at the apartment. It was so good to see everyone. ROBERTO AND I had Spaghetti Bolognaise and then we all hit the sack.

The apartment is right on the beach and has everything you could want. Tennis courts, pools, games room -where we all thrash Robby at ping pong on a regular basis- and a woman who does all your laundry. What more could you ask for. Security is great - there is a guars chap down in the foyer all day and night. The apartment is owned by a friend of Nano and it has worked out feally well. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a view to die for.

Most days we potter arounf Vina or Renaca, go to the beach and drive around a little. So far we have been for a trip to the port of Valparaiso and for a shopping day in Santiago. We will spend three days from the 24th in santiago at Nano and Anita's and then we plan to head to San Alfonso a heritage park and working horse ranch where we will stay for two days and go for a horse trek.

We are also planning a trip to Mendoza - over the pass across the Andes and into Argentina - to Mendoza.

Nano has all sorts of sights for us to see over Christmas planned and I am looking forward to it all.
