While were waiting to hear back about a job for Marc we thought we'd go on a holiday. We went to the travel agent and asked where was the cheapest place to go for a week, she took a look at us and suggested a few party islands. We firmly said no to those, then Croatia came up. It sounded much more like us and Rose had remembered Gary's pictures from his travels there and thought it looked good. So we booked our tickets and two days later off we went, we'd somehow managed to score a two-bedroom apartment that slept 6 people! It threw the travel agent a bit that we wanted to go so soon, apparently last minute means at least a week away not a day or two...

Our first impressions of Croatia were from the air, the ground looked really dry and barren, but the sea looked sparkly blue and very inviting. As expected it was hot, our air conditioning in our hotel couldn't be turned below 22*c otherwise it would break. Although we worked out it didn't actually seem to have a thermostat as it ran full bore the whole time and was REALLY noisy.
We learnt very quickly after our first swim when we were spiked from sea urchins to wear our water shoes in the sea. Rose, despite being a tough girl from the mainland, loved the warm water for a change. Marc also enjoyed not having to wear a wetsuit as he often does when Rose makes him swim in alpine streams.

Overall we enjoyed Croatia, but if we did it again we probably wouldn’t spend so much time in one place, but that’s the breaks of getting a cheap package. Well worth a visit!
