Fabulous 40th Birthday Extravaganza
In and around United States
THE PLAN: Five months ago I began planning a wonderful trip for my 40th birthday – which I called my ‘Birthday Extravaganza’. I wanted to splurge on luxurious accommodations, be near the sun and sea and have my sister join me. After months of research we settled on Cabo San Lucas and the Esperanza Spa and Resort. I booked massages, limo service from the airport, a Wine Journey, a snorkeling excursion and made dinner reservations.
REALITY: Unfortunately, this trip did not come to fruition due to Hurricane John. 48 hours before departure I received a call from Esperanza “don’t come, we are evacuating guests”. That evening our flights to Cabo were cancelled.
What to do? Where to go?
After many frantic hours (there was no way I was going to spend my birthday alone again this year) my sister and I were able to get flights to Las Vegas arriving within 40 minutes of each other, a room at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, dinner reservations at Mix, and tickets to Cirque Du Soleil’s new show - The Beatles Love.
