Little Master Returns to the Mother Country

I should have set this blog up days ago -- as it is now, I'm leaving for the airport in 1 hour and I still have laundry in the dryer.  Nothing like leaving everything until the last minute to get that travel adrenaline flowing.

So, this will be a brief introduction that will explain two things: first, my blog name.  As I made sure to point out to my students last year, "Maestrelli" means "Little Master" in Italian (well, actually, it means "Little Masters," but I'm assuming my reading audience isn't as anal about grammar as I am [except maybe for Ginny]).  Since I'm headed to Italy (via England) partly in the hopes of tracking down distant relatives, embracing my surname seemed very appropriate.  That, and I just like the idea of a being a little master...

The second item I wanted to note is that there is a very good chance I will not update this blog very often (or at all) since I expect to be a) too poor to afford internet cafes (damn you, Euro!), and b) lazy.  But here's hoping...
