Italy with Dad - September 2005

In and around Italy

For my Father's 75th Birthday we took him to Italy.

Specifically to see his half Sister, Nephews and Nieces and to visit

the town of his Parents birth, Rionero in Vultare, Italy.

Rionero is a quaint village located about  one and a half hours

north east of Naples.

The home that his Dad had lived in prior to immigrating to the United

States in 1922 has been restored and is currently occupied by his

nephew Raffeale and family.

John, My grandparents also came from Rionero in Vulture. They left around 1910. Poppa and his brothers were Angelo, Tony, Ralph, and Vincenzo (Jim) Grieco. Nana was a Zollo. Do you have any suggestions for locating family records in Rionero?

Hi, my name is Maria. I live in Rionero in V. and my mother's surname is Grieco. Many of grandpa's relatives left Italy around 1910. Grieco is one of the most popular surname in Rionero. What were your grandparents' names?

Maria, My grandfather was Vincenzo Grieco. He left Rionero in V. in 1910 on the Konig Albert. His brothers Angelo and Tony were twins, and I think they came to the US on the same ship as Pop. My grandmother was Luisa Josephine (Guisepina?) Zollo. She came to the US in 1912. The story my dad tells is that my Nana was an orphan raised by a Grieco family. Im hoping that your grandpa has some connection, because my Dad knows nothing of family left in Italy.

I will ask him and I will also investigate how and if you can have access to the register of births records.
