Quicksand Tales: a trip to the Kingdom
In and around Saudi Arabia
This is a dream--- as I have been beguiled by the beauty of the desert, despite common kowledge of the extreme heat and lack of sustenance necessary for survival in such a location, it has remained a magnificent impirint to my memory, and this is a place I have hoped someday to set foot upon.
This is a choice--- to take a leave of absence from work and the routine, to dare to risk the fear of having to fly to a country that is still being dictated by tradition and religion, and remains reluctant in its relationship with the rest of the world.
This is the trip that I have always placed at the back of my mind, as I have always been intrigued by the place where I was born, but never had the chance to really see and experience.
This is the trip with the most sentimental baggage as it also involves my reunion with my father, whom I only see once a year back home.
This will be my very own magic carpet ride.
