After leaving a few tears on home soil, off we jetted to Madrid.  Jagger was outstandingly great, sleeping most of the time and otherwise smiling at all the right people, attracting positive comments all round.  Good boy!!!  A bonus was meeting Peter Senior and Ron Barassi on the flight/s!!

Madrid is a wonderful city. Checked out most of the main sites, the hop-on, hop-off bus tour.  Have tried some of the local cuisine but can´t come to trying the rooster heads!!  Otherwise all great.  So is the beer (cerveza) and wine.  Not doing too bad with the language barrier either - those pre trip cds really helped!!  Got tickets to the bullfights, rained the first time and was cancelled but went a couple of nights later and WOW, what a culture shock!!  The Spanish love their bull fights, and so does Mark!!  Jagger was a hit - probably the only baby in the crowd.  We said he would be a future Matador!!  The outfits were magnificent and everybody gets really dressed up - men in suits and women in their best, all to sit on tiny tiny extremely hard cement seats, very crammed.  It was great!!

Went to Segovia, El Estorial and Toledo - all beautiful places with incredible history, mediaeval stuff - lots of armoured suits, swords etc...  Not to mention great food and wine (again!!)

All round, Madrid was an excellent spot to start our trip and to get into the Spain way!!
